The Best Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies

Ohhh you guys. I have 2 amazing chocolate chip cookie recipes that I make and this is one of them! An old friend first made them years ago and I almost fell over when I had one. I was begging for more!! Scroll down for the recipe and you can thank me later!


1 cup of butter (I use salted)

1 cup granulated sugar

1 cup brown sugar

2 eggs

1 tsp. vanilla

2 cups of flour

2 1/2 cups of oatmeal (not instant)

1 1/2 tsp. baking powder

1/2 tsp. baking soda

1/4 tsp. salt

1 cup chocolate chips (semi or milk)

1 hershey bar, chopped fine

1/2 cup chopped pecans or walnuts (optional)


Preheat oven to 325 degrees.

Cream together butter (softened to room temp) and sugar until blended well. Add in eggs and vanilla.

In a separate bowl, mix dry ingredients.

Add dry ingredients to wet, mix well.

Add in chocoalte chips, chopped hershey bar and pecans.

Here’s a secret tip: form into balls and freeze before baking. This is a great way to always have cookies on hand but also helps the dough firm up (since there’s softened butter) and not spread too wide on the cookie sheet when baking!)

Bake on dark cookie sheet for 12 minutes.

Leave to cool on paper towel.
